I was born in Yorkshire and left school at 16, stepping into the working world at an age when life still has so much to teach you. Over the years, life has taken me in different directions, and I now live in the Brecon Beacons area, where I moved to marry my husband.
For more than three decades, my working life has been centred around people. I spent 31 years in the Civil Service, and 7 years in finance, and throughout that time I learned how important it is to listen properly, to build trust, and to treat every person as an individual.
It's my life beyond my career that has shaped me most deeply and brought me to celebrancy.
I have known both the joy and the heartbreak that life can bring. I lost my husband at the young age of 33, when our daughter was just eight weeks old. I also experienced the loss of a sister aged 49. These experiences changed my understanding of life, love and loss forever.
Alongside loss, life has also brought love, family and new chapters, including a new partner and my two daughters, who mean the world to me.
I believe these experiences have given me a deep sense of empathy. I understand how precious people are, and how meaningful the moments we share with them can be. My life has given me a lasting appreciation for the human story, with all its love, laughter, joy, resilience, sadness and hope.
I am also proud to contribute to my local community through charity and voluntary work. As a local Poppy Appeal Organiser, I support remembrance fundraising. I am also actively involved at the local secondary school through the PTA.
Being a celebrant feels like a natural continuation of everything I have learned and lived. It brings together my professional experience with my personal understanding of how important it is to mark life's most significant moments with care, honesty and meaning.
As a celebrant, I feel privileged to walk alongside people at some of the most important times in their lives. Whether it is celebrating a new chapter, declaring love, renewing promises, welcoming a child or saying goodbye to someone special, I will take the time to listen to what matters most and help create a ceremony that feels personal, sincere and true.
